The “ZAR” letters being the center feature of this buckle. This is an extraordinarily scarce German-made buckle made for use by the Boers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is believed it was part of the white webbing used for the ZAR Voetpolisie, which was ordered in 1897\/98 of which almost none was delivered (believed to have then been routed to America) due to the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War - 11 October 1899.
